New Business Opportunities with the Patented Technologies of the Rotational Particle Separator

ROMICO

What we offer

Romico Hold of Maastricht provides licenses to companies who want to apply its patents and know-how of the Technology of the Rotational Particle Separator and its Spin-Off inventions. Its subsidiary company Romico Engineering Solutions makes conceptual designs, provides testing and assists licensing companies during implementation.

What are RPS Technologies

The RPS Technologies comprise the Rotational Particle Separator RPS and the spin-offs of Condensed Rotational Separation CRS and RPS Absorber. The RPS Technologies are being used worldwide in various areas such as marine, chemical industry, energy conversion and consumer market.
The Rotational Particle Separator is a device with which very small particles can be filtered or removed from various kinds of fluids and gases. Core is a rotating cylinder consisting of a multitude of axially oriented channels of small diameter. Solid or liquid particles of micron and sub-micron size are separated from a carrier fluid flowing through the channels by the action of the centrifugal force. Areas of application are among others: de-misting of process gases, hot gas de-dusting, process recovery in pharma and food, in-house air filtration and filtration in clinical settings and medical environments.

The spin-off technology of Condensed Rotational Separation CRS comprises the separation of mixtures of gases by cooling to a point where specific components of the gas condense to droplets which are separated by the RPS Demister. Areas of application i.a. : upgrading natural and biogas containing large concentrations of CO2 and/or H2S, purification and liquefaction of  CO2  from Carbon  Capture units, selective condensation and liquefaction of Methane in vent gases of process plants.

Another patented spin-off is the RPS Absorber. It involves the removal of gaseous components from a carrier gas by employing absorbent liquid injected in the channels of the RPS. Areas of application i.a. : Amine absorption of CO2 and/or H2S in gas processing, disinfection of indoor air, evaporative cooling and  heat recovery by water absorption.

Examples of current RPS-applications

Hot gas filtration of Metal Fuels for energy storage by TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY of EINDHOVEN. Iron Oxide particles of 1 micro meter and larger are separated from Metal Fuel gases at 500 oC by the RPS.

RPS integrated in the domestic Air Cleaner by PHILIPS (1995-2005).

RPS Absorber delivered by SDS Separation at TIANZE fertilizer plant in China. Methanol is absorbed from N2-H2 carrier gas by water scrubbing. Flow 72.000 kg/hr, pressure 47 bar, temperature 50 oC .

RPS Demister of ENEXIS. Condensation particles are removed from natural gas at 8 bar downstream of a gas reduction station.

RPS Absorber.
Scrubbing of Ship Exhaust Gases by VALUE MARITIME.
SO2 is removed by absorption of seawater in the RPS Absorber

Unrivalled business opportunities of the RPS technologies

The RPS Technologies are featured by small dimensions compared to those of other technologies. Equipment can be fabricated from heat and high pressure resistant materials like stainless steel and cost effective chemically resistant plastic materials. Implementation in new areas of separation and filtration provides unprecedented business opportunities.

RPS Technologies are protected by patents granted in major countries and by in-house know-how. Owner of IP is Romico Hold AVV of Maastricht NL founded and managed by Bert Brouwers. Licensing companies operate on the basis of license and know-how agreements for specific areas.
